Redondo Handwoven Palm Earrings

Redondo Handwoven Palm Earrings

Lightweight and classic in design, these intricate earrings are individually woven by hand and assembled by artisans in Southeastern Mexico. They blend just as beautifully with jeans, a blouse and huaraches, as they do with a long eyelet dress and heels. Every pair is comprised of three jipijapa palm discs, along with a palm bead and connecting loops. These lovely works are based in fair pay, support for women in their work, as well as respect for traditional processes.
The practice of biophilia in design honours the importance of the connection between humans and nature, and the healing effects that it has on our lives. This effort to bring the outside in not only encourages an atmosphere of calm and well being, but also offers the opportunity to live sustainably through carefully selected investment pieces.
This small collective of artisans both grow and cultivate their own monocot plants for their creative process. Jipijapa is a species that is similar to the toquilla palm that is used in Ecuador to create the famed panama hats. This soft, flexible and durable material makes for stunning works of art that are as long-lasting as they are beautiful. Every custom piece is woven in a cave, which the families have on their respective properties, to ensure that they maintain enough cool humidity to work on their weaving projects during any time of the day or year.
